Can you find me a job?

We get asked this question over and over and the honest answer is I’m probably not sure.

We would love to be able to help all candidates to find their dream job, but the reality is that we aren’t able to and sometimes that’s quite challenging.

We first need to find out what’s important to you and we do that through an initial consultation, where we get to know you and find out all the bits of information that are not on your CV. This then gets inputted into our system and every time we have a new vacancy the information you give us and your CV is cross referenced against the new vacancy’s requirements.

If you’re skill set is rare, then it’s unlikely that we will frequently have matching positions and if your skillset is common, it’s likely that we will also have several other candidates as a comparison point. It’s our job to present what we believe are approx. the 3 best matches when taking into consideration all factors. Sometimes it’s a judgement call and I’m sure occasionally we get it wrong.

We might have five positions straight away that match your profile or just one in a year’s time, but what our experience means is that when we do go forward with something, we stand a good chance of success. With over 60% of candidates invited to interviews.

There are some clear situations where we can help. If you live in Switzerland (or the EU) and work in IT, there’s a good chance we can help you.

But there are also some clear cases where we cannot help. Every week we get applications from lorry drivers and hotel staff all around the world wanting a job in Switzerland, but:

If you don’t work in technology – no I cannot find you a job as we specialise in the technology market

If you don’t have EU citizenship or a valid work permit – it’s very unlikely that we would be able to find you a job as the visa approval process takes 6-9 months in Switzerland and priority must be given to Swiss and EU/EFTA citizens first. Companies are unwilling to go through the work and then wait so long to find out “if” they are allowed to hire you, unless you have a very specific skillset that cannot be found elsewhere. The EU blue card is not valid in Switzerland.
