The most In-Demand Tech Skills for 2024

As the world continues to embrace rapid technological advancements and undergo transformative changes, the job market evolves in response to new demands.

Staying ahead in today's dynamic employment landscape requires an understanding of the most sought-after skills. So what are the most in demand technology skills and how do we see that changing going forwards?

The most in demand technology skills for 2024 are:

  1. Data Analytics and Business intelligence: Organizations are relying on data-driven insights to inform decision-making. Skills in data analysis, data visualization, and data interpretation are highly sought-after. Topics like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are starting to become more commonly sought after, however the maturity of most companies Data departments are not yet at the point of requesting these skills in house
  2. Cybersecurity: With the rise of cyber threats, organizations require professionals skilled in protecting sensitive information, implementing security measures, and conducting risk assessments.
  3. ERP: As companies are getting more globally complex, the need to have centralised, modern, flexible solutions has increased. The most common of these is SAP. With S4/HANA in especially high demand.
  4. Programming: Software development remains in high demand and strong programmers, especially with local language skills, are difficult to find.

How do we see this changing going forwards?

Long term as AI and automation becomes more and more common in every job group, including programming, we see a shift towards the hybrid profile, one that focuses on soft skills and the ability to combine both the technical and the functional elements. In German they have the perfect word for this “Schnittstelle”. Expect in the next 5 years to see a shift towards more positions such as “Product Owner with knowledge of Data Analytics and Programming” as companies search for “The Vitruvian Candidate”.

Candidates who are one dimensional in their skill sets, should look to diversify and future-proof themselves now. Feel free to get in touch to discuss.
